This One is a Survivor

I woke up this morning, thankful for another day. As I looked out the bedroom window, a doe and her fawn froze, ears attentive, looking towards the house. As I watched them for a while, the fawn would mimic her mother impeccably..."This one is a survivor," I thought to myself.  Most fawns around here fall prey to the local coyote population. Last year, a coyote was casually sniffing along the cedar hedgeline when it perked up and jaunted around to the far side of the hedges. Minutes later, a small mass of light brown somehow appeared and lay unmoving. With no coyote in sight, and upon closer observation, the light brown mass turned out to be a not-so-healthy looking, fawn. It had obviously been gutted unceremoniously and left for scavengers, as there was no other nutritional value left for the coyote...Such is life, I guess.  Survival of the fittest...

The doe and young fawn outside my window grazed a while longer. Their quiet beauty inspired me, but ever alert, something stirred them to sprint off into the protection of the forest. The fawn a breath away from her mother..."This one is a survivor."

I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave." ~John 14:30-31

What Money Can Buy

I came across a little card tucked away in my Bible that had a reminder about money. Lately, I have been hearing many people crying for the need for more money in their lives for whatever reason. We all need money to some extent...and some days more than others.  The desire to be flush with cash so that you do not have to worry about those days when the bills pile up floods everyone's minds now and then, but we need to remember...

Money will buy:
A bed BUT NOT sleep.
A steak BUT NOT an appetite.
Books BUT NOT wisdom.
Finery BUT NOT a sunset.
A house BUT NOT a home.
Medicine BUT NOT health.
Luxuries BUT NOT peace.
Amusement BUT NOT joy.
A crucifix BUT NOT salvation.
A church pew BUT NOT heaven.

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had beeen pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer...
But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Saviour.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.~John 3:16

Do not let money rule your heart and mind. Regardless of how much money you do or do not have, keep your focus on what is really important in this lifetime...relationship - then you will never be poor.
