Desires of Our Heart - A Repost Reminder

I have been trying to get to Texas for the past 6 or so years. I am not entirely sure why. I have just been drawn to that area. I have had several opportunities to go over these years, but each opportunity was lost because of various "more pressing" circumstances. (Most of which now, I cannot recall.) That being said, I finally made it to Texas earlier this month and I fell in love. I fell in love with Texas Hill Country. I did not want to leave, yet I had to return to Canada. I hope to return to Texas in the near future and continue exploring where I left off; however, I must leave that desire in the hand of God.

Why do I mention this trip? Well, it has to do with the desires of our heart. I, for so long, wanted something...drawn to it...some days doubting that it would ever occur. I put it on the back burner of my mind always ready to embrace should I have the opportunity. The opportunity was presented - God did not forget me - and I went for it. The interesting thing is that I had an opportunity to go elsewhere at this time, a trip that would have been considered more admirable than my trip to Texas; however, my heart cried out loudly and I prayerfully chose to answer the cry.

The distractions that interfere with our heart's desire can be so obnoxiously pressing, and yet so charming at the same time, that the spirit of confusion can waltz right in and sway our thinking causing us to lose our focus. This time I denied the distraction.

Our hearts thirst for the Water of Life. Driven by desires that mysteriously form deep within our being, crafted by our life experience and overseen by our Creator. The desire of our heart ultimately draws us closer to God; however, we can and do get distracted and try to satisfy these desires with less-than-satiable replicas of want.

Be careful of distractions. Listen to your heart. Commune with God. Trust.

I can look back on my choice to go south and know that it was the right decision for the time. It is all about God's timing for our lives. I guess those other opportunities in the past would not have spoken to my heart the way the timing of this trip did. I will not explore the "why now and not a previous time?", I am content to know that God did not forget me, that the temptation of distraction did not cheat me, and my heart's desires can and will be answered because my God cares about me - He cares about what is best for me each season of my life.

He cares about you and the desires of your heart also, trust Him.

Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Gossip

So if I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, gossiping maliciously about us. Not satisfied with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.~3 John 1:10

Have you ever been a target of gossip? I have. It hurts. It is when people feel the need the defame your character, create a story that incorporates half-truths or no truth what-so-ever to satisfy their own insecurities.  Usually these Gossips gather a following, a group of people who want to be on the "in" and that have insecurities of their own (that become obscured because everyone is focusing on the target of the spoken gossip).

It is somehow reassuring that others are not perfect, isn't it?  Those who you envy for whatever reason are somehow brought down and made to be imperfect by gossip...the thing is though, the Gossip - the person speaking the rumour - put the target on a pedestal to begin with.

Whoa! Did you catch that?

...the Gossip - the person speaking the rumour - put the target on a pedestal to begin with.

Why do we gossip? Why do we not build others up instead? Why do we feel the need to slander others?
I would suggest one reason is fear.
We are afraid. The target of our gossip is someone in our own mind that we have determined we need to be afraid of. They threaten our concept of normal or our concept of security. They challenge the comfort of our existence and so we react to try to reclaim control over this disturbance.

Ironically, "gossip" had its original meaning in "godsibb" which is formed from "godparent," from God + sibb "relative".
Gossip hasn't always been considered a bad word. The word gossip first meant godparents or a familiar acquaintance and was used to describe someone who told of a family's news and developments. In Shakespeare's time, a gossip was also someone who sat with a woman through childbirth, perhaps to talk, offer comfort, or to help her pass the time.
Now it's defined as "rumour or talk of a personal, sensational, or intimate nature" or as "idle talk or rumour, esp. about the personal or private affairs of others." Someone who fits the stereotypical image of a gossip bears names like rumourmonger and blabbermouth. They're viewed as busybodies, as nosy and meddlesome. Somewhere down through history, the word's original meaning became tangled up in rumour-spreading and idle talk.

I was once told that when we gossip, it is like taking a feather pillow to the top of a tower and cutting the pillow open releasing all the feathers into the wind.  To return the feathers back to the pillow is impossible. It is a done deal - the damage has been done and cannot be taken back. So it is with gossip.
A person is hurt, relationships are damaged or cease to be. It is a tool of the devil that destroys many a person. Gossip can be the tipping point for some to that leads to death...literally. For others, their self-esteem is so damaged that they become a shadow of their former self...destroyed by words.  Without those who would speak God's truth and love into the lives of these damaged souls, we would find many who would be spending unnecessary time in a pit of darkness.

Do you hear what I am saying?

Words are powerful indeed.
For some, "They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows."~Psalm 64:3 "They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's; the poison of vipers is on their lips."~Psalm 140:3
... for, "The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell."~James 3:6

We are called, as Christians, to be peacemakers, encouragers, agents of reconciliation not destroyers.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.~Matthew 5:9 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.~James 3:18

Consider:

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. ~Ephesians 4:29-32

And remember:

A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.~Proverbs 16:28

Don't be party to gossip. Stand and speak what is true and good.

What Do You See?

Getting to the spot where you let God work and trust that He will make something new and wonderful is a great spot to be...if you get there. So often we struggle and resist against God working in our situation because we can't see the big picture as God sees it.

This is like what we see...

Do you know what it is?

Photo from: MaZM

...God sees this too, but He also sees this:

And this:

And this:

We attempt to understand our situation and find solutions to our problems, but our thinking is so finite. And though God may allow us to come up with solutions on our own, a lot of the time He wants us to work with Him, trusting Him with what we don't see or understand.

You have heard it said:

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."~Isaiah 55:9

And yet, God invites us to partner with Him. But partnering with God requires faith and trust - It requires studying the Bible, meditating in prayer, and obedience - It requires all of ourselves given over to Him. And mercifully, even when we fail in doing our part, He still works in us and through us. His plans for our well-being continue to be fulfilled, unthwarted by whatever obstacle that may present itself. He is God afterall, and with God, nothing is impossible!

If you have a situation where you are stuck, ask God to help you to partner with Him and trust Him to work all things together...ask Him to let you see the situation through His eyes, and if nothing else (and above all else for that matter), keep your eyes focused on Him.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.~Matthew 6:33

What Will We Do In Heaven?

I was watching a Nova program last night. The series is exploring the telescope past and present (and future), and being fascinated by the heavens, I was greatly awed at the images and the vastness of the universe being shown. It was pointed out that we have only seen 5% of the universe (not sure how that number was determined, given that the universe could be infinite). Using that number and factoring in the reality that we only use 10% of our brain...there are a lot of unknowns yet to be discovered! What we are truly capable of is yet to be determined.

This realization comes at a time when I am wondering what we all will be doing in heaven. I mean, I do not believe for an instant that we will be strumming harps and singing hallelujah 24/7...so what will we be doing? And won't it be boring if there is no challenge? Think about that. If heaven is perfect, where are the challenges? Will we not require stimulation, just exist in a state of contentment? What will we do in heaven?

It is not a topic that you hear much of, perhaps it is because there is not much said in the Bible accounting details of our existence at that point. Some have postulated that we will carry on in a modified version of what we are doing now. So, if you are an engineer, you will continue to do engineering type work. I think that suggestion falls far from the mark when you consider those who never worked, those who are doctors (who are they going to stitch up?), and what about funeral directors?!

Personally, I believe that what we will do for eternity has something to do with the other 90% of our brain power and the vast universe that remains a mystery to us at this point. We are explorers, we are inventors, we are keepers, we are God's children...He will provide and He will not disappoint!

Back to the present. Because there is little said about the afterlife and much said about getting there, I would have to resign myself to the idea that Abba wants our focus to be on the now with hope in the life to come. Without that focus, many would not experience the wonders of the life to come and we know that Abba wishes that none would perish, but all have eternal life with Him...We need to spread the Word! So, as much as I am in awe of the vastness of the universe, the wonders yet unknown, the potential of our being, I must remember our primary calling at this point: Matt 28:19-20
We are called to share the Love and Truth of our Lord Jesus Christ - in what we do and in what we say. In doing so, others will come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour and they too will share in the wonders of eternal life with God.

I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.
So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it.
Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I've warned you of them many times; sadly, I'm having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ's Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.
But there's far more to life for us. We're citizens of high heaven! We're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.

Trust Me

It has been too long. My muse has gone and now I must search deep within. In many ways, I am becoming more and more guarded I realize. I also realize that it is necessary for me to admit that I am guarding myself. I don't want to reveal my weaknesses and my concerns and be humiliated, I mean, who wants that?! So, what do I write about?  Trying to come up with pearls of wisdom or anything remotely helpful is lost to me, but then again, I started writing this blog to express my perspective on my walk so I could look back objectively and learn, grow, and be encouraged.

Right now, I am completely humbled by my lack of employment. I finished my degree and had 3 different job offers. I was so proud. Strangely, they all fell through and I haven't been able to secure a job since. This is partly because there are major cutbacks going on in this city and newbies are being pushed to the back of the line...seniority rules, and partly because, I believe, God is doing something. I am not just saying that flippantly or as an excuse. Throughout this time of unemployment, my walk with God has been a continuous mountain climbing adventure. Sometimes it has been a nice paced climb with decent terrain, but interspersed between the rough and raw terrain that left me relying completely on my Guide. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows as far as the weather goes either. Regardless, I have learned many things about myself, about what I really want and really don't want. I have also learned that when God says, "Trust Me" I am being forwarned that my trust in Him is going to be (usually severely) challenged.

It had gotten to the point where everytime I heard God say "Trust Me" I would inwardly groan looking forward to nothing but hardship ahead. Now when I hear "Trust Me," I am comforted because I know I can trust God. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. He really does this! Not necessarily in my timing (we are usually on time different schedules...my clock is faster than His), but that is part of trusting Him. He has perfect timing.

I will leave it at that. I am in the process of learning, living, growing, just like anybody else and I trust that what good works God has begun in me, He will be faithful to bring to completion, just like he will for anyone of you. (Phil 1:6)

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD,
have never forsaken those who seek you.
~Psalm 9:10

This Can't Be Right!

You know, I didn't think it would happen this way. I thought that it would have happened like _____ , I mean, it would make sense...But the way it has happened...well...Who would have thought it?!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." ~Isaiah 55:8-9

So often we get stuck in a mindset that we deem to be correct, yet when it doesn't come to fruition as we assumed it would, we fight it, trying to bring it to how we think it should be.

We reject the leading of the Holy Spirit. We justify with our own logic. We become rebellious.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes we cannot explain why things turn out the way they do, look at Moses - he never, after all he had done, entered the Promised Land. But what Moses did do was repeatedly look to God, even after he made mistakes...and God was there for him. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.~Deuteronomy 34:12

God is here for us and He will provide what we need. Though we can't fathom the ways that God will bring about the answers to our needs, we steadfastly trust Him to do so.

If you are disappointed with how things are in your walk, do not try to force the circumstances by using your own logic. It will not work and it will cause you much heart (and head) ache. Instead, turn to God, submit your frustrations to Him, ask for forgiveness for placing God in the tiny box or your understanding and let Him be the perfect, glorious, beyond-our-imaginations God that He truly is! And listen. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you...and if you cannot hear anything, know that in that silence is an answer that you could have never imagined - and rejoice! God will provide.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ~Matthew 6:33

Being Self-Aware

Last night, or rather, in the wee hours of this morning, I had lots of time to think. I drove my mom to the airport so she could catch her flight and on the near empty highway, I found myself reflecting on an exprerience that I had earlier that day.  I encountered a person from a church that I used to attend in the past.  The conversation was polite, but even as I was talking with them I felt my guard go up. Then the condescending tone creeped into their voice and the enemy of my soul began to play upon all my insecurities. It was a well arranged script to instill oppression upon my being.  The good thing was that I was aware of what was going on and I was in constant prayer throughout (and after) the encounter.

You see, in the past, I would let an encounter like that completely get to me, wallowing in self-pity and playing victim to the devil. I would strengthen his army by allowing his lies to get to me. However, by resisting him, he must flee. James 4:7

Being self-aware it so very important in our walk with God. I am not talking about a new-agey kind of self-awareness, but rather an awareness that means to be cognitive of how you are responding to the environment around you - mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. This is not something that usually comes naturally, but it is something that you can learn and apply to every situation that you encounter. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.~1 Peter 5:8

Next time you start to get your defenses up, put yourself in check. Pray. Breathe. And remember that we are at war. The enemy of your soul wants you to be distracted from the Love and Truth of Jesus Christ, to the point of destroying you any way he can. But, you - if you believe Jesus is who He says He is and have asked Him into your Life, to forgive you and be your Lord and Saviour - you are more than conquerors. Romans 8
You are equipped: Go here to find out how.

Isaiah 58...A well watered garden...

1 "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.
3 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?' "Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.
4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.

5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD ?

6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

13 "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Spring is upon us and as we look to the Lord to guide us in this new season, we need to be ever so mindful of staying in His Word...Seeking Him out daily, meditating upon His Word, and putting the Word into action with love. Isaiah 58 holds special meaning for me, but then again, the Holy Spirit speaks to each of us individually according to our heart needs. What is the Lord saying to you today? Are you listening? Are you seeking Him out?

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Turn to the Light

The stars gleam in the distance. The Big Dipper...Orion...and Mars...the red planet, they all draw my eyes up - away from the dark shadows of the land. We are so easily drawn to light. When there is darkness surrounding us, it is the light that beckons our eyes to follow, somehow comforting us, like everything will be okay...

You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.
~Psalm 18 :28

It is in the dark places that the Light of the Lord shines bright...the darker the place, the stronger His Light!
When you get to that place of darkness (as we all do), turn towards the Light...

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.~Psalm 119:105

Everything will be okay...

Stand

The enemy of our souls prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1Peter 5:8) Today that someone was me. The battle seems to be intensifying. The enemy is toying with my mind; the more I reveal my heart, exposing the flaws of my existence, the more I am attacked. Even now I struggle to write. It reminds me of what I had set aside out of discouragement many, many months ago...my warrior's heart.

Never let down your guard, never allow the enemy a foothold, never give up or give in. These are the thoughts that seep through the haze on the battlefield of my mind.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.~Ephesians 6:13

I was reading over this particular passage when I noticed, "and after you have done everything," Did you see that? I had been feeling horrid for not doing more in my battle...for not overcoming completely at the time...for pulling away from the intensity of the battle. And then, I read this. "...and after you have done everything," ...I did all that I could do and though I thought that I should do more, I couldn't. It required the Lord to intervene.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.~1 Corinthians 10:13  After I had done all that I could, God provided a way out so I could continue to stand up even under it. That dark battle cloud still hung thick and low above me; regardless, God mercifully set my feet such that I was able to stand. I was protected from utter annihilation by the enemy.

We have a God that watches over us, that walks with us, that shields us. We can be confident that even when things become overwhelming, He is there for us. Our strategy in those times should be for us to focus on Him intently. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.~2 Corinthians 12:10

...Strong in the Lord as long as He remains the center of our lives.

Wherever you are today, keep Jesus the focus of your thoughts, words, and actions. Let Him into your day in every way so that when hardships come, you too, when you have done everything, can remain standing.

You Are Precious

This morning I am blanketed in the words "precious" and "gentle", even the pastel colours of the inbetween morning whisper softly these words. ('Inbetween' winter and spring, night and day.)
If you know me at all, you know that I love the sound of babies laughing, I can't help but smile even when I think of their sweet giggles. This morning I think of one little girl in particular. She is not giggling. This precious little one was violated in the worst way, left damaged and ill. Righteous indignation rises up within me and my heart breaks a little more. I don't even know this little one personally; I do know she doesn't deserve to be harmed.

How much more does our God, the One who formed this little one in her mother's womb, - how much more does His heart break?

When you look at another, do you see them with the eyes of God. Precious in His sight, everyone of us.Take away all of the man made layers of existence and see what God sees. Not a hyper brat, not a famous media star, not a doctor, not a street person, not handicapped, not dirty, not a fighter, not a prostitute, not a pimp, not a clever business person, not a pastor...Rather, a precious soul. One He was willing to die for - and not just die, but rise again conquering death and sin. We are so precious to Him that He is willing for us to know Him!

God is not just an overlord with a set of rules that we must follow in order to please Him. God is, in man-form, Jesus Christ, who wants to engage in a relationship with us. He will not violate us. We must invite Him into our lives in order to begin this wonderful relationship. We are precious to Him and He is gentle with us, knowing what we need when we need it, providing for us, healing us, guiding us, loving us.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.~Matthew 11:29

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.~John 3:16

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.~Revelation 3:20

Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.~Matthew 4:11

"To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze."~Revelation 2:18

What is Human Trafficking?

What is Human Trafficking?
"The greatest and most shameful regrets of history is always about the truth we failed to tell."
—Haugen 2005

■TRAFFICKING IS…
to be deceived or taken against your will, bought, sold and transported into slavery for sexual exploitation, sweat shops, child brides, circuses, sacrificial worship, forced begging, sale of human organs, farm labour, domestic servitude.

 ■TRAFFICKING IS…
where family members and friends deceive parents to release their children or sell them for as little as $20 each, selling them on to local gangmasters or serious organised international trafficking rings.

■TRAFFICKING IS…
growing. 2–4 MILLION men, women and children are trafficked across borders and within their own country every year. More than one person is trafficked across borders EVERY MINUTE, which is equivalent to five jumbo jets every day. a trade that earns twice as much worldwide revenue as Coca Cola.

■TRAFFICKING IS…
where victims usually suffer repeated physical abuse, fear, torture and threats to families to break their spirits and turn them into saleable commodities. a person can be sold and trafficked many times
( Taken directly from STOP THE TRAFFIK website)

Discouraged (?!)

It doesn't take much to become discouraged. I mean, when you have put your trust in God and it has been years and He's still "working all things together" and you are losing hope of ever coming out of this blasted season! A part of me figures since I have followed Him thus far, I should have the right to fuss and demand that He hurry up. I mean, I have been relatively obedient and I deserve some reward/privilege for that...right?!

What am I saying?!

Of course, I don't really mean it. I don't deserve anything. I am just frustrated. As I try to listen to God's leading and do all that I am called to do in this moment, I find myself ancy. I have been living through some incredibly bizzare circumstances for quite some time now. I can't make head nor tails of it, neither can others. So, I am drawn closer to God and further away from many...many things and many people. My greatest concern now is that I am becoming comfortable here in this odd existence, which is a sure indication that I need to be careful before the Lord stirs things up again...(words that comfort me but leave me disconcerted all in the same breath).

Sigh. Discouragement. ...And yet the Word of God speaks:

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

I think I need to go meditate upon these words and my feelings right now.

This could be a chase down between me and God. Maybe that is what He wants - He has chased me all this time, perhaps He wants me to know how much I want Him...? Like wanting Him more than I want to remain discouraged.

Truth and Perspective

How does finding out the truth change your perspective? I recently found out some disturbing information about the house I am currently residing in, not the house itself per se, but the previous owners and their activities within this house. Before I came here; however, I prayed. I prayed over the house and property as the Holy Spirit led. I claimed this house. When I found out this info, I looked at my house differently, yet I know what I know. This house is given to me by God for this season. I look at it like this: I am here for now and the legacy I leave in this house and on this property is directed to God's glory and whoever moves in here next, prayerfully, will be blessed by what I have done here - physically and spiritually.

Though I like this house, it is just a house. My heart pains for the previous owners, their season of being in this house was obviously rough for them. There is an attitude of shame when people speak of them in this place.

What I know of  the original owners (the family that built this house way back in 1892), is that they were hard workers with much influence in the community, though not necessarily gratuitous financial influence. Their legacy associated with this place lives on favourably in many minds.

I only know a small part of each previous owner's story. The bits and pieces I have gleaned over the past few months are only a minute part of the truth of their existence. And, regardless of what I have learned, I am choosing to believe that this house was once a place of fellowship, love, and peace.

Isn't that, so often, how we operate? Regardless of the truth, we choose to believe what we want to be true. Goodness! That is why we have so many Christian denominations, and religions for that matter! That aside, I know that believing the truth we want to be true can cause much heartache.

From personal experience, I went through a period where I was defamed, alienated from (what I thought were) friends and family, and even my church because some people sought to take a truth and twist it into horrid lies. (Sound familiar?) What they wanted to believe negated the truth of what was. And it caused me (among others) much heartache...I am still recovering.

When Eve and Adam, listened to the deception of Satan, they exchanged truth for what they wanted to believe...and that ended in heartache for not only them, but all humanity!

How does finding out the truth change your perspective?

When those of us learn of the truth of Jesus and what He did for us, we choose to believe or we choose not to believe...It is our choice. We cannot change the Truth. It exists regardless of  what we want to believe. It is how we respond to that truth that determines how we live out our life and how much heartache we experience and cause others to experience.

Proverbs 23:23
Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.
John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
Acts 20:30
Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
Romans 1:25
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

The Old is Gone!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."

Release me!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
~Eph.6:10-15

They Did Not Realize
