Psalm 3
1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
Selah
3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.
7 Arise, O LORD!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.~Romans 6:4

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.~1 Corinthians 8:6

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.~Galatians 2:20

Who Came Up with This Idea?!

Good sigh....I am sitting in my favourite chair, listening to some Michael Franti, lazin' after a busy day of removing hardy weeds and brush from my new property. It has been a good day, very productive. I haven't blogged in a while, and though I have started several posts, I have not completed any of them. I do not feel bad about this because I know that what I write will have its purpose when God deems it.  In the meantime, have been reposting some older stuff that people have been Googling as of late.

Usually when I write, I do just that - write. I do not lay out some concept, brainstorm, or meditate upon it with great effort, I just write. This method of writing serves me well for blogging, but not for writing papers. I get too caught up in factors that might have or could influence the concept that I am writing about and I end up easily becoming paralyzed in the writing process. Without a list of criteria to guide me, I could research a concept forever...or until I become bored.

I mean, the reality of most academic writing, is regurgitating what others have already processed and trying to make it sound new, fresh, important...perhaps even interesting. Someone (I don't recall who and I don't feel like Googling it) once said that there are no new ideas. I think that there are, but they are few and far between.

pizza flavoured ice cream
solar powered toilets
a book that can read itself (thanks Nicole:) )
world peace
sensored volleyball courts that keep score
bullet reflector sheilds (think pong)
underground communities in Africa by melting the sand into glass domes
ummm...let's see....anybody else come up with these same ideas?

Ideas...where do they come from? Seriously, where do those ideas come from that flash before you seemingly out of nowhere? I am sure there are many theories about where ideas come from...your subconscious, your environment, energy waves randomly colliding, spirits, God.

Thinking...It really is a gift. Whether it is rational or not, thinking is an incredible process...and we only use, what? 10% of our brain?!

Writing...communicating...code breaking...comprehending...incredible stuff that most of us take for granted. Those of us who cannot read and write create different ways of communicating and code breaking to cope. Visit(volunteer at) any adult literacy center and you will have a better understanding of this!

 Hmmm...On that note: "Have you tried fried Snickers?" - I just read that on Twitter. (Now I am thinking...comprehending...writing...) Fried Snickers?! Are you kidding me?! Shall I book you an appointment with the cardiologist now or after your arteries have hardened over?! Who thinks up these things? That's as bad as fried cheesecake!...oh wait...that's gooood...

Anyhow, when it comes to ideas and blogging, there are some pretty fantastic minds out there! Check out some of the blogs in my side bar if you don't believe me.  Good stuff, good writing, great minds...All of them a gift from God, the source of all things good. ;)

The Writing of My Heart

So, I was going to write about Twitter and how you choose the people who you allow to influence your day...and then that idea fizzled.

...Then I thought I would write about scripture.

Did you know that David, after pretending to be crazy, went to the Moab King and asked if his parents could stay there?
Then I thought of Proverbs 16. I read it through, many of the verses speaking to me...

"To man belong the plans of the hear, but from the lord comes the reply of the tongue."
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
"Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud."
"The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction."
"Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city."

This too fell away...what more could I add?

Then I thought I would repost some profound writing I did in the past (haha), but I thought better of it and here I am.

Some days, I guess, writing nothing at all is, in fact, the writing of my heart.
Peace and Blessings to your day!

Sinusitis - Deja vu

Just taking a break from my day to write about the hornet's nest buzzing in my skull...
I have had sinusitis for over a year now, my sinuses are right plugged...which would explain quite a few things...I wonder if the blonde moments are because of the stuffed sinuses exerting pressure...might happen... Anyhow, I am on antibiotics right now and I swear the little antibiotic soldiers fighting the nasty bacteria guerrillas are engaged in full, all out, bouncin'-off-my-brain war! ...In... my... skull!! ...It is not pleasant!

See...here's a snapshot of the buggers...

Things should be taken care of in no time at all! In the meantime, I need a nap...

the wind ~ with a twist

I am watching the wind outside my window confidently greet the trees, firmly grasping their limbs in a "hand shake" of universal proportions and I think to myself, as I sit sheltered within my abode, that each house I see outside is like a cell in the body, the organism of earth the body, the wind - oxygen.

Not a new thought, just reacquainting myself with the theory of gaia...with a twist...

The source of life in this world (and beyond), the only source of life, is God - without Him, nothing lives. Not us, not our earth. But God is not solely in creation that we should be obliged to worship creation as some do. For if that were true, we would be obliged to worship one another. This is not the case.In Him, we live and move and have our being. God is not just "in" - He stretches far beyond what our imaginations can conceive...we cannot box him into our little bubble of existence and understanding. We are finite, He is infinite.
~
the wind. it moves gently caressing the world with its touch, when provoked it lashes out the power of destruction. Shall we fear it? Shall we worship it? Shall we chase it? No. in wisdom we learn from it and we give thanks to God for creating it.

Breathe...breathe deep.

Smile

Today my heart longs to be surrounded by smiles more than most other days. It is amazing how a simple smile can influence a person's day. Take time to smile....

Season of Solomon

Song of Solomon 2:11-13 (New International Version)

11 See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
12 Flowers appear on the earth;

the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;

the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me."

Contemporizing Hymns

When my life work is ended and I cross the swelling tide,
When the bright and glorious morning I shall see,
I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,
And His smile will be the first to welcome me...

This is the first verse of one of my favourite hymns by Fanny Crosby . Deborah Klassen did a wonderful acappella rendition of this hymn that I love to listen to and sing along with. It is a melodically haunting song that provides an amount of comfort and reassurance knowing that:

I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
And redeemed by His side I shall stand,
I shall know Him, I shall know Him,
By the print of the nail in His hands.

So many of the hymns of the past reveal wonderful truths of our walk with God from beginning to end and though these days many church services incorporate these songs into their services, they are sung without heart or superficial heart at that. Like a child singing the alphabet song for the hundredth time. Deborah Klassen arranged the above hymn to create a contemporary feel compared to the hasty style of the original melody - many musicians have taken songs like Amazing Grace, another beautiful hymn, and contemporized it without compromising the integrity of the original. I wish more musicians would have the courage to do that. To bring an old song, perhaps near forgotten, back to new life. We are losing the heritage of these wonderful hymns. If you are a musician or an aspiring musician or you know a musician, I put forth the challenge for you to prayerfully breathe life back into the hymns of old. And if you cannot do that then I challenge you to at least sing these old hymns with a sincere heart straight to the King - sing for an audience of One.

Why Waste a Moment?

LIVE IN THE MOMENT
You can do it, don't let it pass you by...
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death." ~James F. Bymes

I had a dream of a man...

I had a dream of a man. I was living in his house and went down for a midnight drink of water. The man was not at home, or so I thought. As I gazed out the kitchen window at the night sky, I thanked the Lord for the peaceful beauty of the star filled night. Sensing that I was not alone, I turned. There he was, sitting on the couch quietly, watching me. Though I could not see his face, I knew there was something wrong. I got the impression that he felt defeated. As I drew closer to him, I could see that he had been physically beaten. He had a black eye and cuts and bruising around his jaw. He had been taunted and ridiculed and abused. Defeat was gaining ground in his heart to the point of apathy. My heart was broken. I immediately began to tend to his wounds, to his well being. "Let me help you," I said. But he refused with silence. He appeared confused before he began to weep and then into my arms he came. Weeping from deep within. I held him gently as he cried...Somehow I knew all would be made well.

President Barak Obama

(AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

Well, what a sight to see! The inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. President Obama's inaugural speech was very good, and in the days to follow, I am sure we will see and hear many quotes from this inspirational speech...in the meantime, I would offer President Obama and the American government and people my prayers. I pray also, that not only would God Bless President Obama, but that President Obama would walk in God's Blessing to the Glory of God!

Go With It...

Art is quite a phenomenon...it is in the eye of the beholder...

The world is but a canvas to the imagination. ~ Henry David Thoreau

~
to the King of all, my humblest welcome:
You may have all that i am, i give back to Thee,
my heart and my soul for You to command
take up Your residence here in me

My dearest, My child, your welcome I love,
I will Bless you and guide you to all things above
together We will move far in this realm,
beyond imagination with Me at the helm
and you will be welcome to My home with Me,
together forever We always will be.

They Did Not Realize
